The Buckeye Broadband BCSN Erie Scholarship Fund of the Erie County Community Foundation is pleased to offer the Scholar of the Month and Scholar of the Year scholarships, available to college bound seniors who will be attending an accredited school of higher education in the United States beginning in the Fall of 2024. All high school seniors who wish to apply attending Edison, Huron, Margaretta, Perkins, Sandusky or Sandusky St. Mary’s Central Catholic high schools can apply. The application must be completed online, and the deadline is October 13 at 11:59PM. No paper applications will be considered.
Each month, November through May, a Scholar of the Month will be selected from among high schools in the Buckeye Broadband Erie service area. In May, one renewable scholarship – worth a minimum of $8,000 over four years – will be awarded annually to the Scholar of the Year, selected from among the seven Scholars of the Month. The first year’s award will be $2,000. The scholarship is renewable for up to three additional years ($2,000/year) provided the recipient maintains a 3.0 cumulative GPA, full-time status and applies for the renewal. The scholarship may be used toward tuition, books and fees. Awards will be adjusted as needed for students who are obtaining a degree that requires less than four years.
Each Scholar of the Month will qualify for a minimum of a $1,000, one-time scholarship. This will not be included in the Scholar of the Year scholarship, whose award is separate.
Questions regarding this scholarship opportunity should be directed to Elizabeth Maiden, Executive Director of the Erie County Community Foundation, by calling 419-621-9690 or via e-mail at bethm@eriefoundation.org.
